Still, google the town center, nice little pocket of suburbia and not ‘that’ far from city center
Yeah. I wouldn’t plan to live in Seattle. I’m not a fan of living in the city. We pay that much out in the suburbs where I live, and it’s not fun. I don’t know how anyone affords to live here unless rich, or with a bunch of roommates. Most go into sales to try and get good commission.

1) get a local phone number (Google phone, trak phone...) do a lot of research into potential employers (network extensively (interviews are <10% chance to find. ~<10% chance of THAT materializing into a J-O-B)

2) You don't like a commute?... (or want a 10 min commute) don't live in Puget Sound metro area (Tacoma to Everett)

We need more specifics as to your MUSTS (recreation / entertainment CLIMATE!!!)

I lived in the boonies (paradise for views, wildlife, and hiking) and had a 15 min commute to a great high tech job (near Camas, WA) SW WA / near Portland.

I have a place near San Antonio. it is very hot there today, but it is pretty nice in San Antonio the 200+ days / yr it is dreary in SW WA. No place is Perfect (some places are close)

There are houses I’ve seen in Washington state for 200k that are beautiful, and you’d get the same here for like 700k, and they might not even be as spacious. It’s insane.
The problem is that lots of $200k houses and well-paying jobs tend to be in widely separate places.

There are some >$200k houses within commuting distance of Olympia:

You might also find something within commuting distance of Tacoma:
