Reports say she bought it as an investment property, and doesn't plan to use it, ever.

So, if she's not going to use it, herself, then is it going to be a giant vacation rental property?

What is your source she is not going to use it?

I don't dispute your report, but please offer a source.

Got it from a Seattle paper. I posted this excerpt on another thread yesterday:
Quote:
Windermere confirmed that Winfrey bought the home as an investment property and has no plans to live there—but it’s not like she hasn’t fallen in love with the Northwest before, so maybe we’ll see her around the islands this summer
Here it is:https://seattle.curbed.com/2018/6/5/...an-island-home

From the pictures, it looks like it’s the President’s channel side, looking towards San Juan Island.

I have to say that “investment property” is a serious problem out here. At least a quarter of houses sit vacant for half the year and people who work out here can’t afford to find a place to live because the median price is $600k, driven up mainly by everyone elses’ investment properties.

Orcas has had all kinds of tycoons buy (and actually occupy) major estates there, in its history. I had the impression it, and Shaw Island, used to be the secret getaways for Seattle's wealthy. Maybe they still are. The Nordstroms have a place there. Paul Allen bought a whole island in the San Juans, don't forget. Nobody suggested renaming it "Allen Island", lol. He sold it, anyway.
