We are moving to the Port Angeles area at the end of May and it has been a long time since I visited that area. Can anyone tell me what kind of department stores they have there...if any?

Port Angeles doesn't have very many chain stores. As far as known names, Walmart (not a super), Maurices, & Fashion Bug. Alot of little stores down by the ferry terminal. Sequim has JcPennys, Costco, Petsmart, Home Depot, Walmart (not super) and rumor Target someday soon. Nearest real shopping is Silverdale or over to Lynnwood & Seattle area.

Thanks for the response. I guess it will be an adjustment for me and a relief for my husband! I'm not a Walmart shopper, so thank heavens there are a few other options. I wish there was a Target . I guess I'll have to check out Silverdale.

Walmart is going to build a Super Walmart in Port Angeles, just under 200,000 sq ft. It originally was supposed to be opened by now, but the date has been pushed back. Contruction is expected to start in late 2008 or early 2009. It is unknown what will happen to the current Walmart building after they move the store. One rumor is that Walmart is planing to turn it into a Sam's Club. also there is a Gottschalks downtown PA. Fred Meyer and Target have both looked into Port Angeles and Sequim in the past years, but decided not to build a store in the area at this time, Perhaps in a few years? A Ross Dress for Less is also planned for Sequim.

Anyway, i would like to welcome you to Port Angeles! its a very beautiful area. There are some large construction projects going on right now so traffic is pretty hectic.

Smile You've probably already moved here

Gottschalks in Port Angeles always has sales and there are plenty of nice stores downtown. My store, however, is located halfway between Port Angeles and Sequim off of Shore Rd. In Sequim, JC Penny's is there. If you want Mall settings, you'll have to go to Silverdale until we get one of our own. mod cut: link removed

The Super Wal-Mart is well under way, the possible completion is looming. The Gottschalks chain liquidated so Port Angeles is left with no department stores, save Wal-Mart (if you consider that a department store!). The closest option is a small JCPenney in Sequim, about 30 minutes away from Port Angeles. JCPenney has been selected to receive an upgrade from the smaller store pending higher sales volumes and positive customer satisfaction scores. There have been rumors circulating about a Sam's Club coming to the soon-to-be vacant Wal-Mart in Port Angeles and a Ross coming to Sequim but so far, nothing's set in stone!
