Monse is located in one of the most beautiful (and conservative) parts of the state. When my hubby and I saw it was for sale years ago we wanted it, but it is out of our reach, at least for a little while longer. It would be a great place to restore to its original state--a place to wander back in time, to get off the beaten path, and to glimpse back at a simpler, more honorable period of American history. Somebody should buy it, rebuild it, treasure it, and maintain it as a chapter in the story of this great country that is rapidly disappearing. They should make it a no cell phone/internet zone, a place where people connect personally or not at all, a never ever let a fast food chain or strip mall take its place. If it's still available in about three years my husband and I will buy it and do just that. But, if someone beats us to it, then I hope they will find this little corner of the world worth preserving and make it so. America is more than just a series of Walmarts and high-speed internet access. One day, people will wish they had conserved many a little town such as Monse. Paving over our heritage will only render future generations alien to the authenticity of the West and what it took to settle here generations ago. Our children need to know that there is more to life than an iPod or Xbox 360. Progress is relative, especially if history is destroyed in the process and our nation's stories are lost.

what a place
Monse was a wonderful place to grow up. I lived in Monse from my 4th grade year until my Junior year of high school. What a great place to grow up!!! I learned to drive out there in order to get over and change water in the apricot orchard. I rode and trained my horses in the sand dunes behind the old pellet mill. It is sad to see how much it has detiriorated over the years. The old store was at one time a fruit stand. And the best peaches in the valley use to be grown there, we'd wake up on sunday morning with over ripe peaches on the doorstep for breakfast. MMM
Would be a wonderful area for someone wanting a simple way of life.
