Which is the best town or location in the Pugent Sound area to catch your own food/-crab!, fish, clams etc.?? Thank you! I used to live in Bremerton 40 years ago, and Ilahee State Park was incredible with all the clams available to dig. However i’v Read that pollution has taken its toll and many beaches are now closed in Pugent Sound due to contamination.

The San Juan Islands? Kitsap Peninsula? Silverdale? Poulsbo?

Yes, I wouldn't go for shellfish, and I wouldn't fish for other fish anywhere in the general vicinity of a pulp or paper mill (Port Townsend, Port Angeles, etc.). They say the Orca population is thinning, due to reproductive issues relating to the pollution. So...eat local fish at your own risk.

I work on the waterfront, and from what I have seen, would limit my local catch to salmon, which are just passing through but lived their lives in the ocean. Any creatures that have spent a lot of time in Elliot Bay/inner Puget Sound would be too risky.

Anacortes might still be a good place to crab. We used to go there years ago for good Dungeness.
