Nice to see some pictures of Olympia...
I see one on East Bay Drive heading out towards Priest Point Park and on to Boston Harbor... Just minutes from the State Capital and yet it is like your many miles away.
Thanks for posting!

Amazing that you can see Mt Rainier from seemingly everywhere in Western Washington. I love all the different angles from all the different cities.

Since you just moved Olympia, what do you think so far? Was it hard to get up there, find a place to live, find a job, meet people, etc? I want to move to Washington this summer and after doing some research I am between moving to Olympia and moving to a suburb of Seattle (originally thought of Tacoma, but heard nothing good about it). Since the Seattle area is bigger I am thinking it will be easier to find a job but it is also more expensive. I am in San Diego which is huge so I am worried about living in a small city but I want to live somewhere where I can actually afford a house someday (under $350,000). (And yes I know everyone is going to warn me about the weather - I hate San Diego weather, way too hot, I want cold weather and rain). Anyone have any helpful information?

I love it here! The only thing that was hard about getting up here for us was selling our house in Orlando. Once that happened, we drove up here immediately (with all of our belongings in a Penske truck) and found a house to rent until we're ready to buy locally in a year or two. As for finding a job, I think it all depends on what field you're looking in, but around here, the biggest employers seem to be government-related. I landed a good job with the county after a couple months of hunting. As for meeting people, I already had a good friend who lives here, so I've met some more people through him. Otherwise, most people seem very friendly here (much more than in Florida), and I don't think it would be hard to meet people.
My wife and I considered Seattle as well, but we opted for Olympia due to the high cost of Seattle, the fact that we were ready for a smaller city, and the fact that we both love Olympia in general. It's been nearly three months, and we love it!

Thanks for sharing your pictures of Olympia. Beautiful! And so much less busy than Sacramento.
