Default Need quick info on Port Angeles Neighborhood

We are relocating to Port Angeles this summer and found a possible home in the 900 block of West 14th. We haven't been to Port Angeles yet so we're doing this all based on pictures, word of mouth etc. The house looks great but we're hearing conflicting info about the area itself. Does anyone have any insight about this part of town? We aren't looking for anything fancy or upscale; just nice, clean and safe! Thanks in advance for any advice you may have!

Lots of crappy areas in Port Angeles. Be carefull.
I would strongly suggest you look at rentals before you make a major decision like this. This is an old logging and woods products town with a lot of history and good people but incomes in this area are generally not so good and it shows. It is a beautiful spot but not very well developed.
Are you retired or comming here to work? Hope you have a job lined up as the job market here is pretty tough.

I used to live about 4 blocks from there (30 years ago) and my best friends parents still live in the area. I asked him if the neighborhood is still OK, and he just says it's still fine.

Yes, this actually is for a rental. We will be in the area for a few years and would like to make this a long-term rental, so we're hoping this is a pretty good area. However, we're getting a little nervous because we've heard that there are lots of questionable areas in PA. Thanks!

I agree be careful. I lived a block away from there in a small house on 15th street until moving to Seattle last year. It's hit or miss. I never had a problem but people on my block had breakins. Lots of drugs in the area but nobody ever bothered us. The people on one side of me had a house built in the early 1900s that looked like it should be condemned, and the people on the other side had a brand new home. If Seattle is an option for you I'd choose there. Port Angeles is okay, but I want to live and retire in Seattle. No matter what you decide to do enjoy your time there. The Olympic Peninsula is a beautiful place.
