Default Outdoor burning to be banned

As an FYI, I thought I'd post a message that the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is working to ban outdoor burning in all of King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Kitsap counties. Campfires and ceremonial fires would be excluded from the ban.

You may recall this being shot down a couple months ago at the last PSCAA meeting. It was, but they want to do it again. This time they are quietly working with the fire departments and rural citizens to try to come to an agreement on the ban prior to enacting it. This has not been mentioned on the PSCAA website yet.

The PSCAA will be visiting the area councils in King County, starting with the Greater Maple Valley Area Council meeting this Monday followed by Four Creek Unincorporated Area on May 21st. Please attend the council meets if you live in the appropriate areas.

I post regular updates the proposed ban on my blog, King County Outdoor Burning.

Sobefobik is on a distinguished road
Why are they proposing these bans? I can understand them doing this in King County, but not Pierce County. A lot of Pierce county is very rural, including Gig Harbor where I live.

Clearing Underbrush is an essential part of land stewardship and rural areas consistently have very excellent air quality... besides it rains often enough so that particulates should not be a deciding factor.

SE King County is also very rural, a lot of us have acreage in the foothills, heavily forested.
