South Hill in Puyallup is a good place for a single gal. It is very safe and plenty of shopping and decent restaurants. Tacoma is has a lot of Koreans, but Puyallup lacks Asians, but fit in well...
South Hill is Modern and clean. With this in mind, Seattle is a great place to live with good restaurants, water front, diversity, and Chinatown...
Puyallup is much cheaper than Seattle to live. If you have anymore questions please e-mail me as i live in Puyallup. Happy New Year Pika sil...

Unless you are looking for an exiting nightlife, I would recommend Puyallup for safety and lower cost of living.
Seattle can be an exiting city with pretty good night life and lots of singles. Unfortunately, the places that would offer lower rent would offer lower safety. As an old guy with a college age daughter who goes to school in Seattle, I would be advising against living alone in most of the Seattle area.

Of course volcanic activity is probably not a major safety concern since there would likely be enough warning to evacuate if Mt Ranier explodes into a lahar ..... but Puyallup is right in the way of one projected path of destruction.

Without question I hope you chose Seattle over Puyallup. A young single female does not belong in Puyallup. IMO just a distant, out of the way, typical sprawly suburb with a so-so mall, big box chain stores and chain restaurants. I know quite a few single young ladies who are doing just fine in Seattle. As a whole, Seattle is a relatively safe city with many great options for living. Yes more expensive than far out of the way Puyallup, but more of everything. Great restaurants, nightlife, culture, shopping, parks, galleries, public transportation, the water and everything else.
