Default Moving to Mukilteo

Any advice about moving to Mukilteo? Is Paine field noisy? Any areas to avoid? How are the schools? I'm interested mostly in elementary schools right now.

Thanks in advance.

Mukilteo is a pretty nice area. Plane noise should not be a big issue. Small plane activity is typical, but of course Boeing will test fly the big boys, most of the flights however would be over water.

Harbor Point is the high end area, can't go too far wrong anywhere in there. This area has it's own schools. The "downtown" area is the older part of town, some iffy homes and run down streets with no curbs or sidewalks, but all in all, average. Another area to check out would be the neighborhoods off of Goat Trail Road. From this road there are large developments of everthing from average to ubber nice homes.

The easy access to I-5 and I-405 via the speedway makes this a good commute location.

Most of Mukilteo goes to the elementary school that is on the speedway. I don't have any info as to the quality of the schools there.

I grew up in Everett, but in the Mukilteo School District. Don't let any realtors convince you to be in the Everett side of the district - the quality of education and class of kids is much different. Kamiak HS is nice, or was ten years ago when I was in school, their middle school, Olympic View, was okay. All of the elementaries seem nice. The district is not award winning by any means, but it;s not bad. Paine Field isn't too noisy, but it's more in Everett than Mukilteo...

Any time I see someone ask about schools I refer them to this website that I think is gold. It tells you about the town, too.

greatschools.net

Good luck!

So, did you move here? I noticed that this thread is a little old, and I would think that you'd be here by now, but here's what I have to say anyhow:

My brothers both went through Mukilteo schools, no real problem there. In fact, Mukilteo schools are probably pretty superior to others in the area. At least in terms of funds that go into the school. My only issue is with all of the rich kids that go there and there sense of entitlement, but that of course is just my opinion. In any case, much better than Everett schools. It's sad how much they seem to differ. Stay away from Mariner High school, there's a lot of crime in that area (though they are supposedly working really hard on this).

I personally love the Paine Field "noise". In fact, I recently moved further away from it (I'm in Lynnwood), and I miss it. There's not a lot of planes, really, and mostly the smaller privately owned planes. You also really have to be living in the flight path to notice it much, which I was. Take note that there are occaisionally plane crashes (there's been a few within the past few weeks, even), but I really wouldn't worry about that either.

Mukilteo is a real gem, for the most part. The beach is gorgeous. The biggest issue I have is with the expensive cookie-cutter houses and the hoity-toity people that often live in them. Again, just my opinion. Mukilteo would greatly improve with more of a community, but I think most people are more interested in keeping to themselves. Too bad.
