Relocating to Gig Harbor (Artondale: for rent, houses, neighborhood)

We are re-locating to Gig Harbor and need to rent a home. What are some of the nice areas to live in around the area? We have a 20 month old daughter and want to be able to take her to enjoy all that the town has to offer. I know that the historic waterfront is wonderful, but I'm having a difficult time finding a home there. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Cromwell and Artondale areas put you a good school district if you're looking long term.
Rosedale puts you close to downtown. If you see anything in Quail Run or Quail Park, you're in a nice neighborhood close to the new Uptown Center.

It takes some time investment, but it's worked out for me so far.

There are few "bad" areas in Gig Harbor. Anything along Rosedale street is probably going to be nice. Try to spend a few days here to take a look at a few places. I have one warning: Do Not rent from Compass Property Management. They are really hard to deal with, and they're not nice.

We rented from them a few years back. We had an earthquake back then, and they tried to blame us for the structural damage to the house. They will not work with you at all.

haha.... we did. They also painted all of the windows shut so that you couldn't open them. We complained when we first moved in and said that it was a fire hazard. They sent one of their "maintenance" people over, and he said that there was nothing he could do. That was that. They did nothing further, even though it was a safety hazard.

Anyway... take a trip out here and look at some houses. You can also try looking at houses for rent on Craigslist. It seems like a lot of people in Gig Harbor are advertising on that. You should also get the local newspaper. It's called "The Peninsula Gateway." There will be local listings in there too.
