Hi. Me and my son were looking at an apartment along Tacoma Ave. right next to Wright Park. Is this a good area with many things within walking distance. Is it safe. How is the High School( son is going to be a sophomore next year). I am gay, so is this a socially accepting area. Overall, would you recommend it. If not, what would be a good area to check out. I work from home most of the time so being close to work is not a big deal. thanks.

It's a very lively, social area. Years ago it was a tough, drug ridden area, but since the late 90's there has been a very strong, effective effort to clean it up. It's still city, so you have to take the normal precautions of a city, but it's not an unsafe area.
Your son would go to Stadium High School, which is one of the most beautiful, historic schools in the nation. Academically it is fairly strong, with a very good peforming arts program. Certainly not an area to avoid, I wouldn't think.
