Its not an impossibility if they had someone who could actually put together some coherent thoughts and campaign promises representing state concerns. I mean, think about it for a moment. This is the easiest time for Republicans to make a move on WA, if they ever will, after Inslee departs. Don't underestimate pendulum swings in politics. People generally want to try something new after what they deem a failure over the past x years. They're still struggling financially and worried about x,y,z. Why do you think MAGA was such a popular slogan to run on? There's a phycological factor there where you make people think they are getting something wonderfully new and special if they only give you a chance. Whether that's a load of cr@p or not in the end doesn't matter as much as what is perceived to be this new, wonderful thing. I won't get into what MAGA actually achieved like most other political campaign promises. But that's what the people wanted to hear at the time, apparently.

28% of our voters voted for Bernie in the last primary. This state is a goner. The pendulum is tied up to the left and will stay there until the entire state completely fails miserably. "The socialist majority will vote for more taxes on the remaining working class and wealthy for more entitlements every time."

I already got a text from "Side Show Bob" asking for money for his governor run, never replied "stop" so fast.

Don't hold your breath. The "socialist majority" mostly lives in the most economically productive parts of the state. The more conservative parts of the state are the ones failing and it's not due to taxes, plus they received the most entitlements.

So, if Republicans are really unwilling or unable to put forth any viable, semi-coherent candidate then we're down to:

1. Bob Ferguson - front runner
2. Hilary Franz - biggest challenger
3. Mark Mullet - a moderate (some would say conservative) Democratic
4. Possibly someone else???

We've still got some time and someone could show up late to the party. So far, Mullet looks like he could be better for moderates - less tax and spend than the others. Keep in mind relative scales while avoiding the worst of the worst. While folks here are skeptical, I'm not so sure Republicans are going to throw in the towel that easily. Sure, they've been on a losing streak for 40 years. But never say never in politics. If they could muster up a well spoken moderate, that could potentially get one into the running.... I think WA is a pretty big target for wannabe political hopefuls. And don't tell me there's not enough money there. The Koch brothers among other wealthy right wing donors could cough up some cash.

Well that depends. In a blue state, keeping "family values" on your platform (code phrase for you want rule of bible) is a surefire way to not get elected. Keep your platform to taxes, government size, business / economic regulation, and you've got valid talking points. Wanting to reduce all that may not be popular with the liberal side of things, but they'll stand more of a chance with a platform based purely on that, than on trying to go absolutely as backwards as possible on civil and social freedoms and rights.

Inslee did run for president and fall flat on his face.....I am sure that the current Attorney General Bo Bo Ferguson will run and with all the Seattle votes will win.

The left has run on 'family values' before..... code words for keeping the middle class and poor under their thump with worthless promises.

I just saw a podcast this morning on how foolishly we spend our money.
They even broke down how much the average person paid several different defense contractors compared to what we could have done instead.
It was that goofy Russel Brand which I have a hard time suffering through his voice but I listened because he was spot on on lots of topics.

Who ever we get let’s hope that they don’t have thing for wasting money and fleecing what is left of the middle class.

There is a reason those areas are failing but there is no point in explaining if no one is listening.
The democrat's supermajority voting on policy this legislative session was crystal clear, more coddling of the homeless and going soft on crime, while ramming through tax increases and unconstitutional gun laws on the working class and law abiding. This state is failing in nearly every aspect.

Typically, folks are upset with Inslee about all the usual stuff, and yeah, I get it after the capital gains tax. But at least for me, Inslee wasn't terrible. And if we are going to end up with someone much more tax happy among other not so great things, there's no guaranteeing a better replacement. I don't even know who his most likely successors are.

Derek[/QUOTE]

I worked with Inslee TWICE in emergency situations.

He believes that it is OK for politicians to LIE to the public in a emergency situation.

I was standing there next to him when he made the comment. A civil servant(not me) told him in no uncertain terms..."this is a emergency, we will NOT withhold information from the public". You are getting the same information that the public is getting. Jay was not happy with that.

Inslee was awful and not very smart.

Yes, the next Governor might be worse....but we elected Inslee three times and at some point you have no one to blame but yourself.
