Default Moving to Lynden, WA in July

A job relocation brings my hubby and me to Bellingham in three weeks time. We have decided to buy a house in Lynden. I know it is a conservative town with strong, Christian values and we're good with that. My question surrounds getting to know people. Is there a new people forum anywhere around this area that lets newbies get together? We will be 1600 miles away from friends and family and hope to connect with new people, if possible.

that might be a stretch w/o kids. Seems there are lots of groups for 'pre-school' or school connections and then 'seniors'. Otherwise you may have to figure out where / how to plug in. If you have hobbies or schooling interests get engaged in monthly meetings right away. I have a few specific ideas for the area from friends who have lived there. I will have to PM you when I drum them up. If you are doing the church hunt thing, you might consider 'divide and conquer' . You can split up and attend early / late / sat and sun services and whip out ~ 6-8 per weekend. There is a pretty good selection, depending on your interests.

Thank you. Your response was about what I was coming to expect. We'll have to really try to reach out to people. We signed our sales contract last weekend and at that time, we met two of the neighbors who were very nice and in a similar age/interest demographic to us. It's a new construction neighborhood so the 12 or so house owners will all be coming into the neighborhood together - helpful as we are all "new". Anything you can dig up for connecting with people in this area would be much appreciated. I'm always taking a class in something and I'm a gardener and walker & biker.

Welcome to the NW, and Lynden ... I'm sure you will be much happier with your decision to move there than onto the Lummi lands.

Lynden is a very nice, safe, pretty, quiet town ... uh, Christian values? Yes, on the surface. Known as quite a Peyton Place behind the closed doors and scrubbed Dutch steps and behind the many churchyards though ... But you'll be fine there ... and if you need to move again later, you'll be in good shape on your home value and 'resellability'.

Default We are also relocating to Lynden

Hi there,
My husband and I have also recently sold our house and are planning to relocate to Lynden. We are in our late 40's and have no children living with us. We have to move out of our house by August 1, so we should be in Lynden around then. Feel free to contact me if you think you'd like to know more about us.

Joanne
