good info inuitboater. I was in SV last year to look at some property and backed out do to hilly/icy road concerns. The RE agent said it is not a problem for most people that live there as they can stay in town with someone till it passes. Since I would be alone and don't know anyone there, it wasn't feasible. Very pretty place though and I thought Bellingham was great!

SV can get very nasty in the winter. Due to it being a private development, they have some very steep grades. I was out there looking for home and had to turn around because my front drive car wouldn't get enough grip on the wet pavement it was so steep. The other problem, there is basically only one road from SV into Bham, so you get the school bus, and the morning influx to work in Bellingham is awful and backs up a long ways. I didn't buy in SV but I have to merge onto Lakeway(main road in and out) and it's not fun. I usually end up back-tracking 2 blocks to a stoplight, where I can trip the sensor and make a U turn on the side road back into traffic.
SV also has some stiff CC&R's I don't care for, like paint only from the approved color list.
