Default Retiring from Alaska

Hello,

I live in Alaska and will be retiring toward the end of next year (2009). My wife and I are considering a move to the Pacific Northwest (Washington or Oregon) in order to be closer to our daughter and grandchild (second one on the way). They are currently in Arizona but will be relocating to somewhere in the PNW (depends on SIL's job) in the middle of 2009.

We are trying to decide where in the PNW to live. Our priorities for location are (in order of importance):

1. Climate - we don't want hot in the summer but want mild winters and as little precipitation as we can get by with.
2. Low cost of living - especially housing.
3. Good availability of health care facilities.

Appreciate any comments / advice.

AKJ

Probably Sequim-I'm sure the cost of living might be high, but everything else seems to fit.

Sequim does have some income based affordable appartments and senior parks with
affordable housing.
The winters are on the milder side comparitively and the summer only gets maybe really hot for about a few weeks out to the entire summer. The rainshadow of the mountains does give us dry weather and less rain.
Since Sequim is considered a retirement community the health care does cater to that age group....I not sure what in health care is affordable these days. Good Luck!
