Post Going to move, would love to hear about Colfax, Washington area!!!!!

Hi Everyone!!!!!!!
My husband and I are both retired. We currently live in Yakima, Washington and we are wanting to escape this town for a small community where the crime rate is low, people are friendly and caring. A community where you have to think twice about locking your doors/cars. (Or are those days long gone???????) We have been very seriously looking a a small community by the name of Colfax, Washington. We would really like to hear from people the live there or in the surrounding communities to see how they like it, what the advantages are for retirees looking for some peaceful moments in their lives. We will be traveling to Colfax and the surrounding area in the very near future, but in the meantime would love to hear comments from people that live there and the surrounding communities about the area.
Thank you and you all have yourselves a nice day/evening, we will be looking forward in hearing from you!!!!

I have been through Colfax many times and I liked it. The countryside around it is beautiful farm country with scattered ponderosa pine trees. The town itself is laid out in a long narrow valley with steep tree covered hills on either side. I personally like the look of the town. As to it's social aspects I can't tell you as I have only stop to eat, like at the Jack in the Box and to get gas.

Kanhawk, thank you so much for your input! We drove over that way today and fell in love with the countryside. It seems like the people are really friendly and it would be very easy to adjust/make friends. We are very seriously thinking of buying some property in or around that area, we definitely was not disappointed! Thanks Again!

I love the Palouse area! It's so pretty! I love the weather over there too; all 4 seasons with lots of sunshine!!

Colfax is about 45 minutes from Moscow, ID, which I absolutely love. It is a small college town, but also feels like it has a number permanant residents live there as well. They have a great farmer's market, cute downtown and lots of shops, etc. By being in Colfax, you would still be able to utilize some of the activities and events from the U of I or WSU (plays, entertainment, etc.) from time to time. Colfax is also not too far, and not too close to Lewiston or Spokane.
