You think it's easy being the only honest real estate agent out there? Think of how the poor guy feels who is the only honest used car salesman, or the only honest lawyer, or the only honest politician.

Have you considered Poulsbo or Silverdale? those are both nice places to live and 100,000 net will stretch alot further in those towns. If you live in Poulsbo you will take the Bainbridge ferry to Seattle and if you live in Silverdale you could take either the Bainbridge ferry or the Bremerton ferry.

Thanks Dansystar. Do you happen to know what the school districts are like in poulsbo? That's what we're most concerned about: schools.

Poulsbo is part of the North Kitsap school district, considered a little better than the state average, but not as good as Bainbridge, at least as far as test scores:

My point does not extend to lawyers or politicians, for if they were honest they would be out of a job.

Bainbridge is doable on that salary and definitely worth it with school age children for the schools and the other parents who are into education. I really feel that is important. However, your husband will hate the commute as do most there. My spouse and I often joke that that is why everyone is so uptight on B.I. - because they are all crazy from the commute! But that said, not everyone is uptight there, of course, and you can find plenty of relaxed easy going friends. I think that if education is your number one priority then you can definitely do it on 100k. In fact, I have friends who live on less than that there. But of course they come from an old BI family and live in a veritable trash heap (okay exaggerating a bit there).
