Washington State, becoming most violent state????
Most big cities have violence but I am getting the feeling that violence is spiraling out of control here. Every day in the news there is at least one shooting and at least one murder. EVERY DAY.

Hahahaha!! Well said!
And as a former New York City person, I understand what you mean. The entire state of Washington is equal to less than the crime in one small neighborhood of one borough of NYC!

I have been told that there is a lot of drive bys in Yakima Valley (not necessarily the city).
Here in Tri Cities, its dead calm. Except for the pregnant lady murder thing. Crime in Eastern WA is nothing spectacular though. People that say that think they live in a big city or something.

Uh, from a one-time resident of both Philadelphia and Detroit, even if above were true, that reality would hardly make one feel better now would it?
Anyway:
population of New York City: 8,274,527
population of Washington State: 6,468,424
Sure, crime in one city might be greater than our State. Some American cities are bigger than Washington State, population-wise. But, I have to agree with the sentiment that Washington State is NOT a particularly crime-ridden place. Now.
Give it time. It'll catch up.

There is not a shooting or murder every day in WA. The news beats to death (sorry, no pun intended) the story every time there is one so it might seem that way. Take the Seattle Times for example, headline story is about a shootout victim filing a claim against the city, but the shooting took place in 2005. Or the sad story about James Paroline killed in west Seattle, that story was prominent in the news for a week. One killing, not 7.
The PI says the crime rate in Seattle is the safest it's been in 40 years with 24 people killed last year.
Seattle is safest it's been in 40 years, stats show
Stop watching the news every day and the violence in WA won't look nearly as bad.

what are you people talking about. Tell the truth, people need to know that it rains 362 days a year (2 days of sunshine every other year). Washington state is a MOB paridise with violence like you see on the Godfather and Sopranos in every city in Western Washington. Oh, If I were you outa staters, I would turn your cars around NOW. Dont cross into our state, youre just asking to get car jacked and gunpoint and shot on the spot. Its also very ugly here. No trees, terrible fishing. you would hate it here.

Size may not have much to do with things. I live in a city of 400,000 and we have about 70% of the murders that Washington does.
Actually, compared to the rest of the country, people in Washington like to steal things and rape folks. Murder, not so much . . .
