I presently live in Pullman and have since the late 80's. Pullman is relatively expensive, real estate wise, for Eastern Washington ... more expensive than Spokane. Though the two universities are the major employers (WSU in Pullman and U of I in Moscow, ID), there has been significant growth in the high tech sector, primarily with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (go to selinc.com ... SEL is always looking for qualified individuals). Another (though smaller) high tech firm is Decagon Devices (decagon.com). People also commute into Pullman and Moscow from smaller surrounding communities (e.g., Colfax, Palouse, Garfield, Colton, Uniontown in WA; Potlatch, Troy, Deary, Genesee in ID). Schools in Pullman are good - with the parents working at the universities and high tech firms (such as SEL), there is a real concern about good education ... lots of parental involvement/support for the schools. All the elementary schools and the middle school are recently upgraded or new since I moved here. Pullman, WA/Moscow, ID are "diamonds in the rough." Hope this helps
