Stanwood to Edmonds commute
Hello, My husband has just taken a job in Edmonds, WA and we are currently looking into where to live. We like Stanwood, but are afraid the commute would be too long (rush hour and all). Would anyone please be so kind to let us know how long the average commute is ?
Thanks so much for your time ! We appreciate your time
P:S, his office hours will be from about 8AM-5PM. We are also looking into living anywhere between Stanwood and Edmonds.

Stanwood is pretty deep. I live in Lynnwood and used to commute to Arlington (against the traffic) and it became a drag for me. The drive time was about 40 minutes. With the traffic during commute hours, you're probably looking at 1 hour+ each way. However, with the carpool lanes and park-n-ride improvements on I5, you may experience less times.
What do you like about Stanwood?

Next June Stanwood will have Amtrak train service to Edmonds. They've broken ground on the new train station, I believe. That might make your commute better.

It would range from irritating to abominable. I-5 from Marysville through Lynnwood is one of the worst commutes in the Puget Sound region. If they are, indeed, adding Sounder service to Stanwood, that would be a very nice trip and would be MUCH preferable.

Here's the article on the Stanwood train station:
HeraldNet: Stanwood to join Amtrak line
It's not Sounder, but Amtrack on its route from Vancouver BC to Eugene.
Sounder would be better, I agree.

Hello,
We live on Camano Island and I work in Edmonds. It can be a long commute, but it's worth it. Camano has 50% less rainfall then Seattle, it's quiet and beautiful.
Since they finished working on the freeway, the commute to Edmonds is much easier. Unfortunately, the commute home is worse. Without much traffic, from Stanwood to Edmonds, will be close to an hour. The return trip with traffic, can be as much as 1.5 to as much as 3 hours. I would say the average commute home is 1.5, but that is to the North end of Camano, depending on where you are in Stanwood, it would be at least 15minutes shorter.

I just moved out of Stanwood. Before you buy a house turn on the water and see if it smells like sulfur. We rented a home there and the pipes were full of bacteria and the water smelled like sulfur. The city of STanwood sent out a letter about the water and it was full of Arsenic. The city claims they are working on the situation. All of our water we bought at Costco.
The water thing freaked me out.
