hi , my husband and i are dying to get out of cali and move to washington, but we have never been there and we wouldn't know the difference in areas anyway. we would love a medium-small town, some snow,slow-paced, interactive and safe community. my husband is the primary provider at this point, and a stable job in construction and a decent house to live with our chihuahuas is a major concern. can anyone provide an oulook of the different areas in washington, perhaps the difference between renton and leavenworth? any help is very much appreciated! thanks.

Have you thought moving near Wenatchee? I know that's not in the area you mentioned, but If you don't want to deal with the traffic & heavy population;Cashmere is a beautiful town close to Wenatchee. So, you'd have the advantage of living in a town that's not overly large but would be close to a larger one for convenience. Also, it's not too far to drive to Leavenworth from there.

Ellensburg is a nice family town as well. Your husband would be within commute distance of Seattle and all the surrounding areas with new construction. Do keep in mind that construction business has slowed here, as well. Good good luck to you and yours!

Tri Cities (Pasco, Kennewick, Richland)

There is some snow (sometimes) but lots of sun (Californians love the sun). The combined population is 200k, its comfortably sized, relatively safe, and has cheap living compared with CA and even other areas of WA.
