Washington doesn't have a coastal mountain range ? What nonsense, what do you think the Olympic peninsula is, an inland range like the Rockies or Cascades ? Get a map ! Washington blows Oregon away for beauty plus it has the Puget Sound with all the islands.

I'm deeply enamored with Palouse Falls. It's a favorite place for us to take visitors. While it's miles from anywhere (unless one counts Kahlotus and Washtucna as somewhere), that's one reason it isn't overrun with barbarians. Often one has the whole place to oneself, just to sit or stand and contemplate.

The fact they are located so close together that we get to choose between these two places makes anyone in this area very lucky.

That's like asking if you prefer rubies or emeralds...they are both gorgeous and possibly the prettiest two states in the country.

I agree with Topaz. Each has their scenic attractions that are unique. I don't think one can be rated above the other.

I also agree with Topaz.... Living in WA for over 30 years but my vote for the coast is a Big OR..... the coast is soo much. Not flate till Northern WA... although my secret spot is in WA coast. Now mountain -- uhmm love the OR but lived on Mt Rainier for too many years to say OR is better. I also prefer Portland to Seattle......

Washington state has the only temperate rainforest in the US. It also has the San Juans. Washington is more beautiful, overall, in my opinion.

My vote is for southern Oregon coast----------I have lived in WA and Oregon and the coast down south is so beautiful--- but it depends on what you like --- all areas have beauty. I really can not compare the states as they are so different even tho the coast is the coast and the eastern part is the eastern part. Having lived in both on the coast, their is alot of difference so it depends on what you like or not. It is all relative. It reminds me of comparing the California coast and or all the eastern parts of the three states.
