Default Oregon or Washington - which is prettier?

I'd say Washington is more impressive, but Oregon more unspoiled.

Eastern Oregon is prettier, IMHO as I have traveled both extensively, than eastern WA. More mountains and canyons and much wilder. The WA Cascades are more spectacular, although the Central OR Cascades are very beautiful. I don't know. It's a tossup! I love both states!

Default Wa

I would say that WA has a more dramatic landscape than Oregon. Oregon seems more flat.

I agree, love the high desert of Eastern Oregon. Arid, sunny and cool weather is perfect.

I can tell you've never driven through eastern Oregon by that remark. Eastern WA is MUCH 'flatter' than eastern OR. As for the western portions I think both have a similar terrain, although OR has the Coast Range which WA doesn't, but if you count WA's Olympic Mountains, I'm sure they'd be considered a coastal range, then it's a toss-up for the western side of either.

I have to vote WA also, even though I lived in Tillamook, OR for years in the nineties. (Yes, with my husband's job, we have gotten to live all over, so it makes it fun for me on these boards!) Tillamook was gorgeous in scenery but I hated the unkempt look of much of the county's towns. I am in the Palouse area of WA state now which has the awesome majesty of farm country, hilly, and neat tidy towns to match. Anyway, just my take.

I've lived in Washington since 1974, and Oregon is not my favorite place by a great long shot, but it's not due to the scenery. I think anyone who has not seen Crater Lake is a little impaired to vote here, because that is one of those sights that strikes you mute. About the only sound there is noisy Clark's Nutcrackers. There's a lot of beauty in Washington, and a lot of diverse scenery, but we just don't have anything so jaw-droppingly stunning as Crater Lake. Except the Columbia Gorge around Roosevelt, perhaps, but that is shared between both states so counts for both.

Oh absolutely right, Crater Lake is gorgeous. But remember, each and every state in the West (as far as I'm concerned) has at least one of those places where you say, one becomes absolutely mute. Good point. I haven't been to Crater Lake in years, you remind me I need to get over there this year!
