Why would you say that??... I am a "Native Californian" and everyone here has been so kind and accepting. Yes even the "Native Washingtonians." I got more crud about being a "Southern Californian" when I was in Northern Ca. People here are helpful and open and I have not yet been made to feel unwelcome.

Seems like everyone needs a scapegoat. Out west, it is 'those Californians'. Back east, it's 'those New Yorkers'. Having moved from NY to SoCal five years ago, now living in Oregon, I can't win. I'm pond scum.

actually port angeles and sequim get less rain than most places in western washington. kinda shocking...i know, port angeles gets avg. 23"/yr, sequim gets avg. 16"/yr, seattle area gets avg. 39"/yr....thats big difference to me...

Default Sequim and the rain

Sequim gets only 13 inches of rain per year, where Seattle gets around 33 to 37 inches.
Don't let this fool you, if you're thinking of moving from Florida to Sequim, WA, the cloud cover still exists and the cool temps are still around 5 months out of the year.
Summer usually starts July 5th.

Seabeck here....15 miles from Bremerton and quiet. Lots of property still available, but still beautiful.

Just like Night Owl, I am pleased to see all the positive responses to living in Washington.
I currently live in So California and will be relocating with my 15 year old son to Marysville in July. I am planning to visit for about a week in late May to check things out before the move. I am quite excited about it. I won't have a job when I get there but I am hoping to find something soon after the move. Does anyone have any info on any Admin Support jobs. I currently work at Sony Picture Studios. I also need any info on the schools.

I've lived in Sandpoint, ID Chewelah, WA and 17 other states, and this is the best in the world. Unfortunately, I'm going to be working in OH for the next several years, and just this morning listed my Chewelah property Moderator cut: deleted links and soliciting

Good luck with your move!

Coming from SoCal, I am spoiled by the "convenience" of the shopping. But, I can deal with it. We have two children, ages 6 & 13 - so, activities (dance) and a good school system is important. Anything else we should know to prep for our possible move to wherever we decide on? THX!
Just spent the weekend in Gig Harbor. Pure heaven! My only advice when looking at real estate there----location is key...once you start to drive a few minutes outside the city center it can start to feel pretty rural and a little isolated. The areas just north and west of the harbor are really nice. Shore Acres is also a nice area.....and close to the bridge so good for commuting.
