Default Lincoln County

I'm interested in Lincoln County. Odessa and Almira looks good. I,m retired and my wife will be in a few years. We're thinking of getting a little place there and I'll play snow bird until she retires and then we will live up there full time. I,m aware that it is an agricultural economy and it's sparsely populated. Is there any big negatives about the area. We are presently living in NM and want to move WA to be closer to our daughter who is moving to everett.

I think Odessa is losing population so you and your retirement income should be welcomed. One negative would be sophisticated health care, but that is as close as Spokane. Here is an article in the paper today that might interest you. Local News | Crossing Washington | Audio postcards | Seattle Times Newspaper

Default Check out Odessa!

I have lived in Odessa for 3 years - my husband's job brought us here from NM (Lincoln County). It is a great, vibrant, small town - very safe and great place to raise kids. There is a clinic, hospital, nursing home and assisted living facility in town, which not many towns under 1000 population still have. We also have a grocery store, pharmacy, hardware store, 3 eating establishments, 2 gas stations and other services. Spokane is only 75 miles away. Moses Lake is about 40 miles, which has Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and a few other big stores. Have had a few retirees move here in the last 3 years - housing is affordable and there is a 9 hole golf course in town. Let me know if you have questions - I'd be happy to answer them.

Thanks to the replies. Its nice to know where the local WalMart and Home Depot are. My two favorite stores. Odessa sounds like the place. Their web site does a good job of promoting it self.

Thanks again. We are in Carlsbad. We have been here only 3 years. It's not a bad place to be considering how the economy is going crazy. The housing market has remained sane the past few years. Just not many houses really. Plenty of jobs in the oil and gas industry and the potash mines.
