Planning on moving to WA...
Where would be a good place to begin looking for a place to rent when I have limited money, and where there are decent job opportunities? (possibly $10 an hour..?) I have family in Seattle, (uncles, aunts) and so it would be helpful being somewhat near there as well. Also, are there any good community colleges you would recommend? Thank you in advance.

I have to believe that living in or near Seattle while making $10 an hour will not be the most comfortable financial situation. Unless you could possibly live with your family there?
How close to Seattle would you like to be? What kind of job are you looking for? Do you plan on having a roommate?
If you could give us a little more information, it will help us help you. :-)

I do not find $10 an hour a decent wage unless you are a student. Isn't the minimum wage out here close to $8??

I'm not sure of the exact amount of minimum wage, but yes, it is close to $8 an hour. I guess $10 is a decent wage if you have some help with support and a place to live...... or maybe if you live in a depressed area. I do know that $10 an hour in Seattle isn't going to be enough unless you are living with someone.
More information on what the poster is looking for would be great!!

In January 2009 the minimum wage in Washington will increase from $8.07 an hour to $8.55 an hour.
Nationwide, Washington has the highest minimum wage, with California and Massachusetts coming in second at $8.00 an hour
San Francisco has one of the highest if not the highest 2009 Minimum Wage Rate: $9.79/hour

My family and I are considering moving to Washington in the next 1-3 years. Where in Washington is another story...We are looking for a city where my husband can find a decent job (he is in the computer tech business) but we would actually like to live about 20-30 minutes away from the city. Somewhere where there is mountains, trees, maybe even by some water very close by. We love the outdoors and do not mind the weather there. Any suggestions? We plan on visiting places in WA next year.

Hi mhmd:
Mountains, trees, water? That sounds like pretty much anywhere in western or even northeastern Washington state. A very large geographic area indeed!
If you have time on your trip next year, travel up I-5 from CA to anywhere north of Seattle that you like. That will give you a fairly good "overview" of the larger metro areas in western WA (where I suspect most of the computer jobs will likely be). Then maybe drop down to I-90 and head over to Spokane and have a look around there. See what you think of the "mountains, trees, water" in that part of the state.
Bottom line: I think the key to your question is the "decent job" part. Once you have located potential job opportunities in WA that would fit with your husbands business, it will be easier to help you "zero in" on specific communities.
Good Luck!

I might add.. that i have worked as a secretary, not officially though, I was paid under the table.... but My boss was rather serious, and I mostly worked with filing, doing errands, answering phones, and those sort of things. I was paid $10.oo an hour, but would certainly love to make more. I didn't look into Seattles minimun wage, but now that I see its well above what I expected... I may try finding a higher wage. I am a quick learner, and rather good once I do learn a skill, so far anyways. anything more?

here are something that may help you, help me:
I wouldn't mind having a roomate..
Anywhere from 15-30 miles away from the city is fine.
Condos/apartment would probably be more in my price rage?
I do like Bothell/Kenmore area and am looking for places there.. what is the rough estimate of how far it is from the city?
I would be going to a community college (if you could suggest one, that would be great too.)
Family/friends live in eastern washington, and northern Washington.
