Default Any Drug Problems in Asotin, Clarkston area?

We are considering a move to this area, and will probably be taking a few week vacation there to 'scope it out.' Anyone have DIRECT knowledge of the area and its 'ambiance'?

I lived in Pullman for a while (left there in 2000) and we went to Clarkston often (it's the closest Costco to Pullman); we subscribed to the Lewiston paper (the Lewsiton Tribune). I don't recall any drug or gang problems in the area.

There's a pulp mill on the Clearwater just above Lewiston that can makes its own "ambiance" there (i.e., you'll smell it most days).

Very small town, across river and border from Lewiston ID which is larger & has more shopping. Clarkston has the misfortune to be on the stateline which means we get all the people that need public assistance from both sides of the border in that the benefits are better than in ID. That creates a high percentage of renters in the downtown area of Clarkston and those are some properties you probably don't want to live next to. Out lying areas people own more land and try to keep livestock and horses & that's also something you probably don't want to live next to. (manure & feedlots). The best thing going is the weather, sunny & hot in summer so most people head to the river.
Hope this helps, I could go on...
