Talking Arriving the 21st for a Month in Gray's Harbor:

I guess we have posted here more times then we care to admit really, but then again we certainly are not alone.
We have been torn. Torn between the Oregon Coast and the Washington Coast. Though we have our minds (and hearts) set on the later we have deceided to take the advice of many and take the time to explore the area and get a feel for what its like. Beings that we are both originally from the PNW it will still be a culture shock coming from Florida and being here for the past 9 years, but we are looking forward to it.
We will be staying in Westport for the month. It's been a long time since we have seen the Pacific Ocean and frankly Ocean Shores was very nice but a little to expensive for our taste. We will certainly visit there though.
We have high hopes about the prospect of living in the Harbor. We are certainly ready to leave Florida, though it has been a good state to us we are worn out. Its hard to find good help here a problem that does not only plague where we are from ultimately affects the whole entire state. I am sure that the problem exist elsewhere too but being in management I guess I just can't swallow the lack of caring on the employee's part. Never willing to work their 80 hours for 2 weeks but always willing to complain when they dont have enough money to pay their bills. Geeze nothingl like ranting, can you tell I need a freaking vacation!?
Well enough is enough, if anyone has any ideas what else we can do there all suggestions would be happily accepted.
Thanks for you time

The issue is not being satisfied with the status quo, it's opposing the destruction of our area in the name of profit.

Here is a link to an article in the Aberdeen Daily World about opposition to a new condo project in Grayland.

The Daily World

The public opinions at the end of the article show clearly why some residents oppose this type of development and why others support it.

The results of collusion and cooperation between real estate interests, condo developers, and local officials can be seen clearly in Ocean Shores and Westport.

I live in Westport and do most of my shopping and banking in Aberdeen. It has its rundown areas, but for the most part find it to be full of good people, decent services (for a town of its size) and good variety of shopping (if you know where to look). You can't beat its location to some of the most gorgeous parts of the state (Olympic rainforest is less than 40 minutes north, Ocean beaches in Westport, Willapa bay). Crime is not bad compared to the City, (although I was a little unnerved to see a needle disposal in the Aberdeen library bathroom). I probably wouldn't want to live right in town, but I do like Westport, Ocosta, and Montesano is worth a look too.

Well it may not be what it seems. Diabetics need a place to safely dispose of their needles after their shots. Just trying to be the optimist here!

Default Welcome to Westport!

Safe travels & I hope you enjoy your visit in Westport. Did you rent a home here or will you be staying in a motel?
