Big Move!!!!! Olympia? ...or suggestions
I am wanting to move from California to Olympia or a good area that has plenty of Oral Surgery Offices that is the field that I am in. But I read a scary comment someone posted about teens on methadone and lots of homeless. Does anyone have any good suggestions?
Thanks!!!

Olympia gets a lot of rain, but teens on methadone and lots of homeless? Not in Olympia.

I'd look at Craigslist. They seem to have more rental listings than either newspapers or real estate agents.
Seems very doable to find an apt in Olympia for 975 or less.

Stacy,
Olympia is a great place to live, and you should have no problem finding a nice apartment in Olympia. Like Ira mentioned, check out Craigslist, and I'd also recommend checking the online classifieds section of the Olympia newspaper at www.theolympian.com
Good luck with your move.
Sandy

Olympia is a great place to live, lots of friendly people. It is the state capital so there are allot of state workers and state jobs, mixed with allot of layed ack naturalists/hippies, and college students. We have a community college and Evergreen state college that is pretty well known for its uniue teaching style. The housing market is still doing very well i just bought my first house in neighboring Lacey ( the Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater area is a tri-city area that is all kind of mingled together), and the value has been steadily rising. Our county is in the top ten in the whole country for home value retention. You are only about an hour from SEattle and a hour and a half from Portland so there is some big city night life within reach, but it has a really smalltown feel, our whole county only has 200,000 people, i think Olympia is around 60,000. The homeles are not even noticable around here, Seattle has a big problem, but what big city doen't. About the teens on methadone, i know prescription drug abuse is a serious concern up and down our whole coast but i have never had my house or car broken into or anything like that. Violent crime is big news when it happens, but you don't see too much of it. I am 23 and went to high school and South Sound Community College to get my AA right here i town and both schools are very nice, i have lived within a 20 mile radius of olympia since 1990. I have traveled allot and experienced people all over north America From Hawaii to the Carribean, and Miami, Salt Lake to L.A., and i allways love to come back home when i am done. I am a huge skier and have traveled all over WA, OR, CA, NV,UT,and ID to go skiing and we are lucky to have like 10 great mountain ski resorts with in a reasonable drive. About two hours from the largest of them. We do have a shorter summer than anywhere in cali, but since i love to ski i want a long winter. I love this town, i am sure you would too. Hope this helps!!!!!!

The South Puget Sound area in general is a great place to live, whether its Olympia or one of the suburbs. It's a beautiful area, the traffic (isn't bad until you decide to try and go out of the area), and there's just about every amenity here that you'll need.
