Default Where to live

I'm planning on moving to Seattle for a little while to go to school but when I'm done I would like to move a smaller town. I would like to live in western Washington and in an area where I can go for a walk in the woods and see a view of the mountains, maybe along the beach. I like to go camping and hiking. I'm not looking for anything too urban. I know this isn't very specific, but anything will help!

You might like one of the towns on Whidbey Island, like Langley - feels rural, artsy, lots of woods and plenty of beach area as well, more of a small town feel. I showed houses out there a couple of years ago and some of the house owners said the first time they locked their doors was when they put their house on the market - it was a little bit like going back in time.

The Fairhaven area of Bellingham is also cute. I'm not super familiar with these areas overall, but those are the ones I've been to that sound like what you're describing - I'm sure you'll get other suggestions from people who knows that general area better. Good luck!

Once you're in school in Seattle (UW?), you'll have many opportunities to explore firsthand.

I'm sure you'll find several towns (if not dozens!) in the area that meet your criteria. I think once you actually get here, you'll see for yourself what areas you like and which ones you don't.

Take your time and enjoy exploring the greater Seattle region for yourself.

Have fun!

You can do all of that from anywhere in Seattle. The water is everywhere and the mountains are 30 mins. away from the city center. I suggest not living in the University District, its not the best neighborhood. Next to it is Wallingford (which is better) and Ravenna (better still). I would live in Seattle and just venture to nature anytime you want.

You would love Bellingham - a small college town about 2 hours north of Seattle. Beautiful, right on the bay and the Puget Sound, mountains all around. Friendly people and a laid back atmosphere. Only another hour to Vancouver BC for fantastic culture and International flair.
