Silverdale area? buy or rent? (Bremerton: 2009, daycares, how much)

We just got orders to go to Bangor. I've been looking at townhomes to buy near the 200000 mark and similar townhomes are renting for 1175/month. We could also live on base, but I dont really want to since its a pain to get non-military friends through the gate. I had a few questions for those of you who know the area.

1. Do you think it is a good time to buy in Silverdale area? I've been looking near Island Lake and near the Fairgrounds for townhouses. We need 3 bedrooms at least.

2. How much do utilities cost up there? Electricity, gas, water, trash pick-up, etc.

3. Have property taxes been going up recently, are they expected to go up more?

4. I am a RN, looking into Harrison Medical in Bremerton or Silverdale - is it a nice hospital? Does anyone know how the nurses there like their jobs?

5. I have a 2 year old - what are some of the best daycares in the area?

I'm really torn on whether or not to buy. I like the idea of investing our money - but I would hate to lose money if houses depreciate a lot more. We plan on being there for 3 years (2009-2012).
