Hi !
I am actually planning to move to Forks, WA, but not before three and a half years; to the summer of 2013th I love the woods, rain and small towns and is a girl who loves to be alone. But when you look around in different forums everyone say that it's really hard to get a job, and my question is how early should I apply for a job before I move? if someone could help me with my question
Because it almost sounds like I should start looking now ....

No one is going to promise you a job 3 1/2 years ahead of time; how could they possibly know now what their hiring needs are going to be that far in advance? And it's extremely doubtful someone is going to hire you long distance and wait for you to move there, either, when there are plenty of local people who need jobs, too. Your best bet, if you're really determined to move there, is to have 6 months of living expenses saved up, move and then look for work, and have enough money saved up to move somewhere else if you don't have any luck finding a job.

Also, when you say you like rain, are you aware that there are several months of the year that get over 15" a rain per month? An average of a half-inch per day or even more? It's not like Seattle or Portland - it's MUCH wetter. Check out this chart of averages high and low temps and precipitation, and notice how the precipitation is OFF the chart:

What kind of job are you looking for? again no one is gonna hire someone out of town unless you have some speciality. Most jobs are grocery, video rental, resturaunt limited, timber which all of us in WA are looking for. Where are you gonna work? or even apply for? Your going to one of the most depressed areas in WA. More than likely you will change your mind in a year or so, most do.

lol - I'm just like you! When I spent three years in Tacoma earlier this decade, I wanted it to rain MUCH more than the 38 inches or so that we were getting. I would absolutely love Forks, but I also want big-city living. But the climate there would be absolutely perfect for me!

Why any where exactly?

My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Forks in June of this year. It was a wonderful trip. And we are planning on visiting again in January. This time though we plan on staying for at least a month. No we are not retired. We are moving back to PA and are planning a little R and R in Forks.
I never once felt like an outsider while we were there. We walked all around town and greated everyone we met along the way.
We dined at several eating establishments and will say my favorite is the local pizzaria. Oh they have the best Taco Pizza and the beer was freezer cold and to top if off their staff was spot on.
I cant wait to get to Forks. I feel comfortable and at home there.
I would like to add, that everyone we had encountered there was friendly and not one person acted like we were interferring with their little part of the world.
