I lived in Tacoma four years ago. I still own a home in the west end / Point defiance area. When I first arrived to the area in 2000 Tacoma was in terrible shape but then it became what it is today. I truly like the city of Tacoma and hope to return there.

Hey guys.

Thanks for all your tips. We ended up buying a house in Lakewood. I know some people hate Lakewood or whatever, but we have a house off of Gravelly Lake & Washington Blvd... so kinda in the nice area.

Thanks again,

If you like sushi, try Koibito sometime. The location here in Lacey is excellent!

I hope you enjoy living in Lakewood. You'll be convenient to a shopping area, and there's a nice little community theater group there too.

Hi everyone!
I just joined, trying to get info on Tacoma... I lived in Puyallup for a year and loved it, my husbad deployed to Iraq, and I moved home to Cali (have been here for about 10 months now). Well, I found a home in Tacoma but don't know if it's one of the "good" areas. From what I've gathered, it's just fine. It's SE of the Tacoma Dome, on the opposite side of I-5. Just a few blocks from the Lincoln-Eldridge Park. Does anyone have any kind of info about that area? I'm moving back May 1, and want to have all my i's dotted t's crossed before I go... not to mention I want a good place for my husband to come home to, and for my 2 year old daughter to be safe.
Thanks to all

Cool The Truth

I am a young black male living in Tacoma and honestly alot of these comments seem racist. If your uncomfortable with urban areas yes you should not live and Tacoma. I'm a musician and have traveled everywhere including in this state i can tell you what's goin on hood to hood, suburb to suburb. Tacoma's south end communities like Hill top are crip neighborhoods this goes for Lakewood, Spanaway, and North end yes North end. The Eastside of Tacoma is a blood and surenos neighborhood, and holds lots of are native, asian, and mexican community. I love my city it made me strong and my principles even stronger seeing so much has made me the person I'am today a successful young man. Tacoma has it's share of problems but last a checked it wasn't just a gang problem with African Americans, Natives, Asians, and Latino's. Washington period has produced and was the killing field for several notorius serial killer's at a point and time none that were black unitl D.C. I've lived in puyallup and went to school out there where i fought on a daily basis due to racism. Kids in puyallup have nothing to do they have no source of entertainment which is why they smoke all of daddy's weed get drunk and get behind the wheel. Tacoma is a great place to grow up it's a mesh of all culture's we may not see eye to eye at times but we grew up together and respect each other's cultures. Parkland and Spanaway do have meth problems as the rest of the world see's it to. Seattle as great as you may write about it has it's fair share of gang violence to along the Rainer, Holly, Henderson, Yesler, West Seattle (highland Park), and point side areas. Eastern Washington with it's growing latino community is home to surenos and nuertenos gangs but is still a good community to live in. The point i'm trying to make is we all exist together and take the good with the bad but we love are city and state. I've seen the AZ_singlemom lives in pheonix,AZ well surprise lots of us including me go to Pheonix on a regular basis, what i'm trying to say is you can't run from the problem cause then it's still there! Tacoma is a great place to live and has communities for everybody just don't live in certain areas if your not use to or didn't grow up around that type of behavior!
