Omak, WA info please
I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on Omak, WA and the surrounding Okanogan Valley. There is a job in Omak that I am considering, but I'd like to know more about the area in terms of weather, culture, housing and such. I live a fairly rural lifestyle now with 2 horses, and several dogs, but I do like to have access to a larger town for shopping. Does Wenatchee provide a good variety for shopping? Any info is appreciated.

The Okanagan is beautiful but rural by any standards.
Omak is a town of about 5000 that provides goods and services to the population in the surrounding area. About a hundred miles to Wenatchee, two hours away, maybe three in the winter, just because of the traffic crawling along in spots.
Wenatchee has about 30,000 people, so you should be able to find anything you need there.
If you like small towns it's worth a look.
Not a lot of jobs that pay beyond the minimum wage.
Gets a couple of feet of snow in the winter, more in the surrounding area. Can get pretty hot in the summer. Pretty humid. Can be overcast much of the winter.
Fairly conservative.
Housing costs much lower than the urban areas of the state.
That's about all I can remember.

I've lived in the Okanagan valley for 10 years. It was a great place to raise the kids with lots of outdoor activities and sunshine. It's a bit of a drive to Wenatchee for shopping so you better stock up.

Superb mileage chart, from the Washington Dept. of Transportation:
home page WSDOT - Highway Map - Mileage Chart
Omak is small enough that it doesn't have its own mileage chart page, but Okanogan is right next door and on the Okanogan page
WSDOT - Highway Map - Mileage Chart - Starting from Okanogan
Wenatchee is listed as being 92 miles away.
Did you check out the City-Data statistics page for Omak? Might have some info you want:

I hope you were able to find the answers to your questions. I have just found this web-site and thought I'd check out the questions about Omak. I have lived here for 20 years and love it. If you can't find it here in Omak, you can get it via internet or do without. Best way to fall in love with the area is to get involved. Hope you took the job, the valley is beautiful and quite a "horsey" town.
