Default I want to move

I'll be finishing college soon, and I want to move to Ault Field, or a city like it. I'd be moving from California with a roommate, would it be better to take a loan out for a house or rent an apartment, if there is anything else I should know mention it as well.

By Ault Field, you mean around Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island?

Continuing the same question as Ira500 asked:
Do you therefore mean the Ault Field which is part of the U.S. Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island? You could live there if you were a U.S. Navy airplane... So Ault Field is not a city or town, but a military airfield.

But there are many, many wonderful places to live elsewhere on Whidbey Island. Does that idea interest you? What did you think Ault Field would have that inteests you? If you tell us what you want and don't want in an area, perhaps we can suggest some areas, but we need clues.

Generally speaking, when you move to an area you don't know well, it's a superb idea to rent there for at least six months, so you can learn the area, find out what you like and what you don't like, get really smart about commuting times to and from work, and learn about prices and what those prices buy.

Based upon the OP's screen name, why not Walla Walla? Perfect with its world famous asparagus!

OTOH, there isn't a NAS there but they do have the Army Core of Engineers...
