If you want to stay away from California invasion, Phoenix is #1 area for invasion...
For all you Cali haters, look at the bright side, Washington State is not the #1 choice for mass population influx. My biggest mistake was to move to Phoenix.

Single, was it a mistake because you hate Californians so much? How come? Some of them are execrable, but so are a lot of people, no?

A lot of Californians are moving to Austin too. What's the big deal? I don't get "hating" people because they simply lived in CA prior to wherever they live now? The neighbors I have met, from CA, are great, really nice... involved and care about the neighborhood, seem to be good parents... I have only positives to say about them...

No, seems like a lot of Washingtonians hate Californians. My point is for the Cali haters, Washington is not the major point of migration.

Didn't I understand that at one point --could have been in the late 70's or early 80s-- that the majority of new residents moving into Washington were from California? I know I remember the sentiment you are describing. All the increasing congestion was being caused by those from California and the seemingly more agressive drivers were Californians. I can remember folks saying that.
Of course, that didn't mean that Washington was where the majority of those leaving California were going ...two different things. That's what you're referring to, AZ_mom ...so I guess you can disregard this post all together. *laughs*

In my time within WA, I have never heard that, other than on this board.

LOL
Didn't get out much?
Not so bad now, but as 'rocco said, it was pretty common in the early 80's.
There are still bunches of Washingtonians not enamored with Californians, and the advice of getting WA plates as soon as you can, if relocating from CA, is still valid.
Not exactly sure why this occurs, but it does. In the early 80's it was a beef with CA drivers, I'm really convinced that WA drivers are among the worst in the US, so I don't quite get that.
Mid 80's to current, the beef was CA folks moving up to take advantage of all that the PNW has to offer and driving real estate prices through the roof.
Supply/demand thing, and the Californians (as it was widely believed) brought a lot of equity money with them and gladly paid the prices WA residents and developers were asking because it looked like bargains to them.
I'm sure Californians weren't the only ones heading to the PNW, but that's who the focus was on.
If you read the other western state forums, many posters in AZ, NV, ID,OR, MT are saying the same thing.

Maybe it's an age thing?
Perhaps those over 50 sit around and complain about it?
No - we got out plenty, and the Californians moving up to WA was never a source of conversation out at dinner, the park, playgroup, friends places etc.

Yeah, like I said... must be an age thing. In the early 80's I wasn't in WA - and I was only 6+.
I am aware of those who feel like CA is making a mass exodus from their state due to it being expensive - etc... but I am not aware of anyone talking about "hating californians" ...
