Question La Conner and reservation lands

My family and I are considering a move out (again) to the PN. We've lived in Bellingham several times. Now, we'd like to move to a smaller, much more quaint community. La Conner is great and a possibility! However, most of the affordable properties for us there are on native lease lands. What are the pros and cons to this sort of situation?

If you are a member of the Native American tribe on whose reservation you are considering buying a house that sits on land leased from the tribe, no problem.
Otherwise -- I think you will find this thread mighty interesting:

Thanks for the info. man. Sorry for the repeated thread question. I did a search, but for some reason it didn't show up.

Not a problem! (When you hang around a forum for a long time, you remember all sorts of details, when people posted things, and how to find things, that you never thought you'd know when you grew up... )

But -- about La Conner: that area and Mount Vernon are so nice. Pretty. Basically rural. Pretty safe to live in. If you look on each page here, up in the left corner you can click on City-Data.com. Then click on Washington. Then find La Conner in the lists, then Mount Vernon. Then any city or town you find on a map. City-Data.com has amazing, long, stats pages for each city or town, crammed with useful information.

If your family includes school-aged children, you might seriously consider being somewhere within the Bellingham school district -- excellent schools. Ignoring the school districts in Seattle and the more expensive suburbs, there are also excellent school districts in Vashon; Bainbridge; Issaquah school district which includes northeastern Renton; Olympia; Camas.

Of all the ideas in this thread, if you want a gentler, more bucolic life, I'd vote for La Conner, Mount Vernon, Vashon, and Camas. Bainbridge Island fits the bill but might be a bit expensive. The Olympia school district is excellent, and the outskirts of the city have quiet countryside.

La Conner is nice but not very close to employment. Try looking in the Stanwood, Camano Island, and 7 lakes area (stanwood zip code but west of Arlington) Closer to everything and a very nice area.
