Interested in info about Independent Communities
This may come across as an odd question but I am not inquiring about anything illegal. My question is are there any separatist type communties in the state of Washington ... more specifically groups or communities dedicated to complete independence from the "grid" ... producing their own food / electric / home schooling - providing their own self defense , etc. If anyone has any info please post or send me a private message. Thanks.

Living up there on Wahkiacus, I'm amazed they don't get more hassle from the locals down the hill and up the highway in town. I wouldn't expect it from the locals in Wahkiacus, who are mainly Adventist and tend to be pretty nice people if a little reserved with those they don't know, but the last place I'd locate a community like that is anywhere near Klickitat.

There was a commune of people who lived together called the LOVEISREAL ( LOVE IS REAL) community. All of the children from this group had the last name of ISREAL which had nothing to do with Jewish beliefs. They were led by a person who had been prominent attorney and had bought a lot of land. Over the years, they opened serveral resturants, built a wedding venue on their land, held the annual garlic festival. Evidentally, the leader had borrowed 5.2 million dollars from the holdings of the group and they went bankrupt in 2004. The land was bought by a jewish group to open a camp for children.
Now, most of the cult has dispursed, but they still have a website look up Love Isreal
