What do you like about Waitsburg? I saw more than one hapsburg jaw there.

i'm from the same boat!
I live in Los Angeles and to be honest, i'm kinda tire of here. i want to see the nature and live the life with less stress. eventhough i'm only 19, but i'm considering after finishing education to move to WA in King Area. i never tried living in vilage so i don know but king area is pretty bussy and it should be a good experience

Architecture, especially the commercial buildings (I do volunteer rural community rehab and economic development in my free time).
I try to steer clear of being judgmental, we each have our own quirks... towns and people , gotta help others when possible, the need is adequate.

I spent the first 40 years of my live in LA. There is definately a whole lot less stress in WA as well as clean air. However, there are a lot of things to become allergic to and a lot of dark days that can cause depression. If you are in any way predisposed to those problems, this is not the place for you. Otherwise, What are you waiting for?

Hi, I grew up in Western Wa. (South King County and Pierce Counties).. so I am very familiar with the Seattle area to Tacoma.. Nice but I, finally moved due to the crime, traffic, and general scaryness, but, on a positive note.. W. Washington is really amazing for its beauty i.e. Water, Snow-capped mountains, Bluest skies ever, mild winters etc.
For the past 13 years I have lived in Ellensburg, Washington (Central Washington just east of the Cascades about 110 miles east of Seattle).. Snow varies year to year.. the first year I was here, we had 4 feet in my front yard at Christmas *winter of 96/97* It hasn't been nearly that bad since, however, you can expect to have snow on the ground continiously from Dec.-March usually. It gets ugly after awhile and you pray for a new dusting to cover up the muddied snow thats turned to perma ice in your front lawn.
As for the schools here in Ellensburg. I went back to school while I was here and enrolled in Central Washington University. I believe that instate tuition requires that you have been a resident for several months before enrolling or you risk paying outrageous out of state tuition cost. You may want to check into that before you move and plan accordingly as this will be true for any Washington State Public University.
Note: Ellensburg has a lot of great churches...
Currently, we are relocating to the Tri-cities. After a very tough search, we finally found a rental home in Pasco. The market here was crazy! When we finally found a nice place in our budget, we had to move quickly to sercure it. From my search it appears that there are places that are nice and definite places to avoid. As for snow, I hear its pretty mild here, however, they have had nasty ice issues. I was here visiting in Richland last Christmas, they had a lot of snow but its my understanding that white Christmas's are not that often, not like Ellensburg which is almost a garrenteed white Christmas.
I do visit Spokane a lot... We have family there as well. THis last year was a record snowfall year. In April, they still had tons of on the ground in places. The bad thing about Spokane and snow is that Spokane has hills to negotiate and the South Hill area was hardest hit and the roads coming off that one are scary! Summertime in Spokane is Amazing!! So much to do.. Big City attractions yet... just drive 10 minutes and you are in the country! I just love Spokane!! If it wasnt for my husband's new job in the Tri-Cities, I'd be in Spokane instead.. Just get good snowtires! LMAO
So sorry for the long post... I babble

Thanks for so many replies. It helps out to have various opinions and perspectives.
How are the race relations in WA? My wife and I are a bi-racial couple. I know everyone and everywhere has their own that we would rather not speak about however, it important to me that my wife and our children feel safe and that they belong. We have dealt with neighborhoods that can't seem to "lay it down" when it comes to building relationships with those of another race, I have never understood why this is. To me it is so clear but there are those who would rather sow hate and we have been victims of this hatred by a few not-so-good men.
Thank you again for everyone's support, you guys are great!

Are rentals difficult to find in WA? Are there any cities you would avoid because of crime?
Thanks for your help

[quote=StealthRabbit;9077283]I do volunteer rural community rehab and economic development in my free time.quote]
My wife and I through our church have a teen mentoring program and a food distribution program for the elderly, disabled or families in need. These days we all feel the economic crunch but as with every beginning there is also an end, so this too shall pass. When the economy revives itself again there will still be the need to bring help and hope for many. Being a volunteer in and for community support; is there room for these programs we would bring along with us to WA?
Thanks

plenty of need, both east side and west. There is especially a need for this in building relationships with Native Americans and migrants (both east and west side) are you bilingual? that will help.
