Yup, 5:30 is about right. Depends also on whether the Mariners are playing that evening. It can take over an hour from Everett to Seattle on those evenings.

Friday afternoon traffic is the absolute worst. If it were me, I'd leave as early as possible. Get there early and you can park for free on the street behind the dome, walk a few blocks down the hill and catch the free Link light rail for a quick ride to downtown. There are numerous eating and drinking options depending on taste and budget. If the weather is anything like today, Woody's on the Water can't be beat and has an excellent happy hour.
Whatever time you go, remember that 99 runs just west of I-5 and if the interstate morphs into a parking lot around Federal Way, it's a good alternative that will put you right at the dome.

Utilize the websites that show real traffic times. KOMO.com and WSDOT.WA.gov both have this available. If not available, plan on atleast 90 minutes (medium-risk commute) from Everett to Tacoma. Worst case could be 2-2.5 hours if there is a major problem (or two, or three)...

I would leave at 4. You'd get there early, around 6, so you can do some stuff in Tacoma before the show, and you have plenty of buffer space in case traffic is horrendous.
