Talking Medical PCS to FtLewis

My dh is int he WTU and will be going to madigan a lot I am assuming. Is that on McChord? We are looking into places to live and I have heard a lot about Puyallup, Lacey, Dupont. All sound great but my dh does not drive due to his injury so we need to live very close to base with in 15 minutes, safe, affordable, parks as we have a 2 yr old. Community! We do not like the husstle and busstle of the city. I really like Puyallup but I heard about the traffic and I am not going to do that! lol I am the only driver in my house. I wanted to stay on the north end of Base due to the traffic but I like the south end of base. If we live onthe south end of base my dh will have a hard time getting home if I cant pick him up plus traffic that way i heard if awful! HELP

NICE community

SAFE!!

Close to madigan

Close to Ft.Lewis

Affordable around $900/month renting

Away from traffic

Away from the BIG city

Places to take a dog (service animal to play)

Nice daycare centers

Please help please and thank you!!

Madigan is actually located on Fort Lewis but as you know, Ft. Lewis, McChord, and Camp Murray are all adjacent to each other.

I don't think you're going to get away from the traffic congestion within 15 minutes of the military bases so I'd recommend staying in either the Lakewood or Spanaway areas if being within fifteen minutes of Madigan and reasonable rents are important to you.

The closest community to Madigan would be Lakewood. You should be able to find an apartment to rent there for about $900. Lakewood is a mixed bag as far as desirable neighborhoods go. Dupont would fit your description better, but I think rents there might exceed your limit.
If you husband is military and is limited in his mobility, the Army should give you priority for on-post housing. Madigan has housing right there. I hope it works out for you.

Madigan is on Ft. Lewis and there is no way to avoid traffic if you live off post. I think for what you are looking for, Dupont is the place for you except for the $900 rent. You'd have to go to Lakewood for that, which is the next closest area. If we had to move off post, I'd definitely live in Dupont. You don't even have to get on the highway to get there, but still traffic going off post and on post at peak hours are still bad even before you hit the highway.
