Default Northwest, little rain?

I'm trying to find a major city, somewhere in the Pacific Northwest, that has the driest climate. Any ideas? Thanks ahead of time.

It isn't major, but Richland or Kennewick or Pasco would be your best call. 300 days of sunshine a year, dry in summer and even dry most of the winter (roads don't get that icy here because not enough ambient moisture). If it's dry you want, we can hook you up.

As above, it all depends on your definition of "major". In addition to the tri-cities area, (although less than hugely populated) popular "dry" NW places would also include Walla Walla, eastern Oregon (Bend etc.), Boise, perhaps Spokane and vicinity. The rainfall map frequently posted on this site should help guide you.

Stay on the sunnyside (east) of the Cascades and you should be fine.

just remember... little rain does not = more sun.

gray and wet (west side) vs. gray and cold (east side) is often the case. (tho it is all in perspective and what you consider 'dry' is. I know many 'we_t side' folks that are not pleased with winter sun conditions on the east side.

If you want dry and sunny in the winter, try Colo, NM, AZ, CA, NV

Seattle has just ended 28 days without rain. So my temporary vote goes to the Jet City. (The jetstream is off this year, Utah, Nevada, Southern Idaho have had WAY above normal rain).

My longterm vote goes to Tri-Cities. Boise and Medford a close second.

Except it's often not gray here in the winter. It's often quite sunny--just clear and cold. There's more precipitation in the winter, but not all that much more. I think we get about 300 days of sunshine per year, which is pretty sunny by Northwest standards. I used to live closer to the mountains (not far from White Salmon) and it was less sunny there, as one would expect due to the mountain backdrop.

"Driest" is all relative. Try moving to Seattle from Juneau and you'll think you moved to Morocco .
