Anyone been to the glass museum in Tacoma?
So I randomly found out about this glass museum in Tacoma and it sounds quite interesting to visit on our way south from Seattle to Portland. I was wondering if anyone had been or knew of anyone who has gone to it. Apparently you can watch live glass blowing demos as well as the various crazy things they have created. I think it sounds kinda cool personally. Thanks!

The glass museum is quite nice, and it's very close to the nearby Art Museum ( which also has glass) and the Washington State History Museum. It's worth a stop, for sure. There's also a very cool walkway from the glass museum which has all kinds of cool glass stuff on it.

Exactly why I thought it sounds interesting. Was just curious as to others opinions if they had been and was wondering if it was worth the time. We do enjoy glass art work and are fascinated by glass blowing so it would be interesting to see a live demo. I know you can watch it live on the museum's website too.

The workshop is great, try to time your visit to when a group will be in there showing how they make stuff.

It is truly one of Tacoma's gems, I went last winter with my Grandaughter and was knocked out by the sheer beauty of the entire display. The surrounding area is also worth looking into, it has undergone a total transformation, with the UW having a campus there as well.

schedule of demos is important, as there is really not that much to see (For the expense of entry). There are other venues nearby, but cost also. Check for 'free days' or coupons, (unless you happen to still be employed and have extra $$ floating around.)

It is definitely worth stopping by. I just walked around the area the other day. It's just a short detour off of I5. Just take highway 705 a few miles and exit to downtown. You will see the glass museum from the freeway. It looks like cone that is falling over. There is a great walkway and the museum is very interesting. Definitely plan your visit when they have a demonstration. If you're lucky, they will give you something that they have made right in front of you.
