Kitsap Peninsula?
Looking for information on the Kitsap Peninsula. We are a family of 4, our kids are 2 and 5. We'd like to live in a smaller town, ideally. We like to garden and have animals (chickens, ducks, dogs, cats) and are looking for an area with farmer's markets and a more natural/organic feel. Suggestions?

the Penninsula sounds about right...it is however a bit out there. You may want to also look at Port Orchard...I think it is similar.....
Have you gone and taken a look?

mrsriley81-- We live in Poulsbo, which is a nice little town on Kitsap Peninsula with a weekly farmer's market from April-Oct. There are rural areas all around here. Check out Scandia, an area of Poulsbo (on the way to Silverdale) with an organic agriculture feel. There are several summertime farm stands in that area with fresh organic veggies, eggs, homemade salsa & jams. Also look at Whidbey Island, especially around Greenbank, Coupeville & Langley. Wonderful area for green, family-friendly lifestyle. Camano Island might be a good fit too. There are so many places around here that would meet your needs. Happy hunting!

I've lived in Kitsap Co. all my life and must say I'm ready to leave. The changes in the last 20 years are enormous...more traffic, noise, few family
owned restaurants for its growing size, crowded schools etc. Like I said, I'm comparing to how it was 20 years ago before Silverdale was congested.
If I were looking for a quiet place to have a few animals and a garden, I'd be up over the bridge in the Port Townsend or Sequim area. Its so beautiful there and yes, while the towns themselves are busy, the outlying areas are peaceful and close to charming, not cookie-cutter, little towns.

Last time I looked, Port Orchard was on the Kitsap Peninsula, which is located on the south side of the county, you have North Kitsap which is Poulsbo which is a nice town and Bremerton/Silverdale... I grew up in Port Orchard and this would fit your needs such as in the Olalla area, and also in North Kitsap Poulsbo location is a nice location. have you had a chance to spend alittle time checking out Kitsap County? In regards to Farmers Markets, they do have them in Port Orchard , located down in the city center, and I also know Gig Harbor has a Farmers Market and believe in the Poulsbo area also...I used to enjoy them, fresh vegetables, plants and the such..
You could find some locations on the seattle craigslisting also
Good Luck
