I've worked on the ranges here at Ft. Hood for 4 years with Northrop Grumman. I havent been able to find much on the Yakima Training area exept something about a company called SA Tech. It would be great if I could get a job before movieng up there.
The Yakima Training Center is managed by Fort Lewis. I'm involved with military construction at both places. It's about a 3-hour drive between them.

Hello everyone:

Our family is moving out to Yakima very shortly and after reading everyones qoutes I frankly am scared to go there. He is in the military and will be stationed at the active reserve center in Yakima on Tripp street. We are currently looking for a home to purchase and are having a hard time finding things becasue we do not know that region of the country at all. We are a diverse family, hispanic and Jamacian, and currently are stationed in Maryland, so could anyone help us find a safe home for our children (41/2 and 22 months) and with a great school system to boot. I am also looking for employment I will be graduating from college in feb. with an associates degree in healthcare administration. I would really appreciate the info.
Thanks

Our family is moving to Yakima at the end of the year from FT Lewis. My husband has frequent TDY trips to Yakima and my kids and I would spend weekends with him there, and we really enjoyed the area. We're looking at buying a home in Selah. The promiximity to the training center and nice schools clinched it for us. My husband is going to be taking over the MP station for the base, but I'm a little nervous, there aren't that many military families in the area, and I've always been very active on the bases we have lived. This should definitely be a new adventure for us. Melissa
