Same-sex acceptance in Aberdeen/Hoquiam??
My partner & I are considering moving to the Aberdeen/Hoquiam area. We take very good care of our house/yard, do not party, have no pets, and are very quiet but make good neighbors. I'm wondering how receptive the community there would be of us. Can someone give us some guidance?

That's hard to do in Aberdeen's climate, so I'm sure the neighbors will appreciate a house that doesn't have the paint bubbled or peeling off like many of them in town do!...
I don't live there but my wife and I own several properties in the Aberdeen area. It's a small town with the same small town "perspectives" that you'd likely encounter in other "blue-collar" towns of it's size.
You didn't mention where you're potentially moving from but have you had the chance to spend 2 or 3 weeks in Aberdeen to form your own opinions of the area? Most residents of small town western WA (as a generalization) tend to keep to themselves and simply "live and let live".
As an "outsider" in Aberdeen (e.g. someone who didn't grow up there) I am, by and large, mostly ignored by the town's populace (not in a bad or rude way, rather simply indifference). I think you'd find it to be the same for you two as well.
BTW, if it's an issue, employment opportunities there are likely going to be limited at best.
My $0.02. Good Luck!

Maybe Michael Jackson should have had his Neverland Ranch in small town WA.

Nobody really cares in this state about what other people do, most people keep to themselves. Have you been to that area? You should check it out before you move there cause as stated above there is not much there, kinda run down and old...close to the coast though!

Perhaps one should have added 'provided everyone is a consenting adult.'

I've been in Aberdeen area in the past, and it doesn't seem to have the most tolerant demographic around. (think confederate flags on pick up trucks.) Any reason why you'd choose that area? It's pretty depressed, and there is little culture to speak of.

There is as much "culture" in Aberdeen as there is anywhere else.
If your definition of "culture" is "stuff made by weirdos and dead foreigners that is lumped under the general category of "The Arts" and appeals to pretentious yuppies", you are right; there is not too much of that here.
But, you can find plenty of it in Seattle.

I lived in Aberdeen, WA, for over 2 years. Just 3 months ago, I moved away from there to be near my grandchildren. My neighbors in Aberdeen --the best neighbors I have EVER had-- were gay. There are, I think, quite a few gays in the harbor area, and... good neighbors --gay or straight-- are wonderful to have. Neighbors that are jerks/thoughtless/inconsiderate/ loud/disruptive --gay or straight-- are not well received. I thought the community was accepting. People do mind their own business. And, I'm not just saying this because my house there is on the market! P.S. I never saw vehicles with Confederate flags.
