Default Relocation to Puyallup or Mt. Vernon

Hello,

I'm considering relocation possibilities in Washington State. Mt. Vernon and Puyallup are two possibilites. Anyone care to offer their take on these two communities? Middle-aged,married,kayak fisherman, conservative, christian, professional. Thoughts? Opinions?

I lived in Mount Vernon for three years and loved it! The weather is great and it's close enough to the northern part of Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands that one can find lots to do. It's easy to get out to the countryside and of course in the spring the Tulip Festival is great.

The hospital and medical center complex has recently been expanded, but in a fairly non-intrusive way. I was satisfied with all the medical care received while living there and before that, on Camano Island.

Camano Island is just across the bridge from a little burg called Stanwood and is also a great place; relatively unspoiled and worth the trip. Stanwood is a little south and west of Mount Vernon. I lived on Camano for a year and loved it: one of the best years of my life.

I've also lived in the southwestern part of Washington and of the two areas, greatly preferred Mount Vernon and the northern part.

There are views of the beautiful Mt Baker from many areas of Mount Vernon (there are a few hills in MV...) and it retains its snowcap year 'round.

Don't know anything about Puyallup, beginning with how to pronounce it. Lol.

Thank you for your help, I appreciate the insight. Pew-awl-up. Having spent the last 25 yrs in Texas it could be Poo-y'all-up, and good manners causes me to leave it at that. Also Lol.

Default puyallup

Puyallup is good place to be. The fishing and the rivers are fun. You have at least three rivers to fish/kayak the Puyallup, Carbon and the White. A little further is the Green. You are also about 30-45 minutes from the sound. the medical system is growing and expanding to include many specialties in and around Tacoma. As for values you see more Christian values in Pierce county.
