I live in Westport, and we love it. Crime is low, its very safe. The schools are okay - my kid is too young for school yet, but from what I've been told the k-8 is pretty good, and the high school is sufficient. Major industries are fishing, ship building, and tourism. If you have any kind of mechanical skills, the Westport Shipyard is always hiring (welders, fiberglass workers, etc). Fishing has a multitude of jobs, which I don't know much about. Tourism is hot in the summer season as you might expect. Government (City, Coast Guard Station, State Parks) is the other big employer in town.
Housing is all over the map, its very eclectic, with houses ranging from $120k to the millions (on the beach). A lot of families that work at the shipyard live in Aberdeen or Hoquiam.
Weather is typical PNW coastal - milder than the Seattle area, with a few big winter storms. Summers top out in the low 70's, winter days don't usually get cooler than high 40's.
It's a nice small town, where everyone knows your business. One small grocery store in town, and for anything else you have to go 20 minutes to Wal Mart/Safeway in Aberdeen, or 1-1/2 hours to Costco/Target in Olympia. There is a pretty good movie theater in Aberdeen.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to answer them!
