Cell coverage in Oroville is fine. I've been with Unicel ever since it was Cellular One and never had a problem as long as you stay in the valley (Okanogan Valley) once you head for the Highlands (hills) then you lose coverage pretty quickly. Verizon has some issues according to those I know who have it. However, my friends from Seattle seem to do fine with their plans here. The biggest issue is Oroville is only four miles from B.C. and our phones have a tendency to connect even before you cross the border. Unicel used to refund for unwanted Canada connections. They don't anymore, however they have very reasonable Canada free roaming w/ their nationwide plan so I don't worry about it. Verizon bought Unicel and had us all worried, not wanting to switch back to non-GSM phones. Fortunately ATT will be swapping for most of the Unicel (Rural Cellular) in E. Washington. Just had to let people know cell coverage from Oroville to Wenatchee is really good. I have had some trouble in Tonasket and the Riverside areas though.

Twisp is ok, republic is good near town, (The mine just put up a tower but I don't know if the locals benefits), I don't know about Kettle Falls, Oroville is Ok in town but no cell just out of town unless you are on the hills facing the tower, (Also, You get Canadian service and if you don't set up your phone right, you can't dial out and and it cost big bucks to receive calls.), I don't know about Metaline Falls. If I was looking for property...cell service would be a major factor. |

FWIW, Qwest seems to have pretty good service all along the I-82 corridor, and many places out in the sticks. I have not been to Twisp, Republic, etc. lately so can't comment directly.
I'm with Qwest because they had the best "boonie" coverage about 5 years ago. That may have changed. So far I have not seen any need to change to a different provider. |
